Devon Antonio Andrews, Co Founder of BCTL of born September 14, 1992 in the small city of Roanoke, VA. Started his journey with music at a very early age. Being he was born into a family gifted in the fine arts. Following in the footsteps of his father, he began to learn how to drum. His father had marched for Patrick Henry one of the cities two high-schools. His influences in music come from various artist, in which his father played around the house. Luther Vandross, Jeffrey Osborne, KISS, Rush, Journey, and the most iconic artist of all time Michael Jackson are some of the many artist he drew from. Devon later grew up to put in a lot of time in the musical classes his school had to offer. Taking band and piano in Willam Ruffner during his middle school years. Then ironically marching in Roanokes other high school William Fleming's (Patrick Henry's rival) marching band. There under the direction of John D. Wright and his son John E Wright, is where his knowledge and hunger for music began to grow. He went to take four years of Jazz Band. Which was a a college course that also taught musical theory. Followed by two years of taking Electronic Music in which he first began learning the fundementals of producing. He would sing all the time growing up but it was around the age of 8 when he really discovered that he had a voice to sing. Around that time he had already taken in alot of diffenent sounds of music. His first time actually singing in front of an audience was during his headstart program in 1996. Singing RKelly's "I Believe I Can Fly." Rap really wasn't a fan favorite of his fathers. So it never was played. Devon having a rebeliious spirit would sneek and watch BET's 106&Park right after he got out of school. Having to quickly change it when he seen his dad come home from work. It was his cousin Kevin who taugth him the art of freestlying. Around the age of 10 they would stay up all hours of the night rapping over countless beats on his Xbox. (the original one.) He then took those skills to school where he would battle rap on the back of the bus with his neighborhood friends. He recounts it being his Senior year in high-school where he first began trying to write songs. His first track he said " was recorded on Audacity." Fast foward to 2017 he is now working on publishing actual pieces of music through a label he and his friends from band started. Bro Code The Label founded by Jeremy Thompson, a very young label in the works is the label in which Devon is working on as an all-around artist to help collectively build!
